The agency is currently comprised of approximately 300 sworn officers supported by a staff of roughly 50 civilian employees.

The History of the Westchester County Police

Westchester County Department of Public Safety was created on July 1, 1979, via the merger of the Westchester County Sheriff’s Department and the Westchester County Parkway Police. Learn more about the history of the department’s predecessor agencies here.

Gary Stymiloski Memorial Scholarship Fund

On February 24, 1985, Westchester County Police Officer Gary Stymiloski (#157) was killed in the line of duty while on a traffic stop alongside the Saw Mill River Parkway in Yonkers, NY.

This scholarship is intended to honor his life and service.
